A creative home for emerging talent.
Big Fish Studios is an independent recording studio based in Guildford, Surrey, working with emerging artists and music creators to bring original music to life.
The Big Fish Initiative represents the next stage of our growth. Building on the studio facilities established in 2026, we aim to expand our recording and production capabilities while creating more opportunities for artists to develop their skills, collaborate with experienced professionals and progress within the music industry.
Through artist development, practical learning, collaborative music creation and improved access to professional facilities, we want to help strengthen Surrey's music community and support the next generation of music talent.
What we're developing
Three key areas of growth.
Developing our studio
We plan to invest in improved recording equipment, monitoring and production facilities to enhance the quality of our services and support a wider range of music creators, including artists working in vocal-led, electronic and DJ-based music.
Creating music together
We aim to introduce collaborative writing sessions and writing camps where artists, songwriters and producers can develop original music, share ideas and build creative relationships that support future projects and releases.
Building skills and careers
We plan to deliver practical seminars, internships and work-experience opportunities focused on recording, production and engineering. Participants will learn from experienced professionals and gain practical knowledge to help them take their next steps in music.

Hands-on learning sessions covering vocal recording, production techniques, engineering workflows and preparing music for release.
Writing camps and collaborations
Opportunities for artists, songwriters and producers to work together, create original music and build relationships that support future projects.

Mentoring and practical experience for those interested in recording, production and engineering, with potential progression into further training, collaboration or paid work.
Talent deserves opportunity
Making music opportunities more accessible.
We believe that access to professional music facilities, practical experience and industry connections should not be limited by financial circumstances.
As part of the initiative, we aim to offer selected free and subsidised studio opportunities, alongside accessible learning experiences for emerging artists and music creators aged 17 and over.
We want to reach beyond our existing network, welcoming people who are developing their skills independently, studying music or taking their first steps towards a career in the industry.
